SF Root
SF Topical without the DHEA. Full-spectrum Vitamin E in olive squalane, with diosgenin from wild yam. Three ingredients. Nothing else.
SF Root is the exact same formula as SF Topical, minus the DHEA. We made it for customers in countries where DHEA is banned or prescription-only.
In its place is diosgenin, the wild yam compound DHEA is derived from. Diosgenin shares DHEA's plant origin but none of its hormonal activity: the body cannot convert it into DHEA, so it is not a restricted substance and the formula stays hormone-free.
The serum is light and non-sticky and absorbs into the skin within seconds.

Mixed tocopherols · 33.5%
Cell membranes' primary antioxidant.
Most skincare products contain low-potency E with high levels of seed oils (polyunsaturated fats). Our natural E has virtually all polyunsaturated fats removed, is ultra-pure, and contains high gamma tocopherol.
66% of formula
Mimics your skin's natural oils.
A light oil that is resistant to oxidative damage. We source from olives, never from shark liver or seed oils, so the formula absorbs without a film.
0.5% · from wild yam root
Plant-derived, hormone-free.
A compound found in wild yam root, the botanical starting point for DHEA. Here it is used as itself: plant-derived, nothing synthetic, no hormone precursor. SF Root is the formula for anyone who wants the SF base without DHEA.
What customers say
"I can't even wear makeup without breaking out but zero problems with this! Had some hyperpigmentation from teenage acne and started micro needling with this serum and discoloration is almost completely gone."
"Been meaning to say but skin.food is legit the first product that my skin hasn't hated so you've done the impossible and I'm a huge fan"
Common questions
How is SF Root different from SF Topical?
Same base: full-spectrum Vitamin E in olive squalane. SF Topical adds DHEA at 5 mg/mL. SF Root swaps it for diosgenin, the wild yam compound DHEA is made from, so it is hormone-free. Pick SF Root if you prefer to avoid hormone precursors, are pregnant or nursing, or just want the simplest possible formula.
How is this different from regular Vitamin E serums?
Most Vitamin E on the market is synthetic alpha-tocopheryl acetate — just one of the four tocopherol forms, and usually mixed with seed oils (soybean, sunflower, rosehip) to cut costs. Ours is full-spectrum: alpha, beta, gamma, and delta tocopherols, the way it appears in food. Olive squalane is the only carrier. Nothing oxidizable, nothing cheap.
How long does one bottle last?
About 30 days with regular use (2 to 3 drops, morning and night).
